Have you heard the term wellness? It has two contexts, a single in alternative medicine and 1 in Western medicine.

In the alternative medicine globe, wellness indicates taking care of oneself so you don’t get sick. Let’s uncover approaches to keep away from cancer, heart disease, mental illness. We can do this through changing our diet regime, working out more, and changing our energy fields.

In Western medicine, we wait till we get one particular of these diseases, then we rush heroically to beat the illness. In Western medicine, the term wellness means early detection of illness. If you stroll into a Wellness Center in a hospital, you will see mammogram screening rooms, MRI machines and other tools to scan for the existence of illness.

Is that wellness? To me, it is not. Wellness is about staying effectively, it is about avoiding illness in the initial place. When an individual is told You have cancer, it is a key blow to their psyches, and their lives. Why go through that if you don’t have to? Why not do whatever you can to steer clear of that terrible day?

Western medicine treats the pre-detection portion of life as a type of random soup of nothingness. You cannot genuinely do anything about any of these diseases, you just get them or you do not. No rhyme or cause to it, it just hits you, and then you deal with it.

Genetics is a large issue in the Western health-related model. If you get cancer, ah, nicely, it was in your genes that you’d get it. You see, your wonderful grandfather had cancer, so it was inevitable that you’d get it as well.

Huh? Sadly, Western medicine cannot explain why siblings get or don’t get illnesses supposedly passed on from their parents. One sister dies of cancer at a young age (because of genetics) and the other sister lives to be 100 (genetics).

For my portion, I’m going to take the greatest care of myself feasible, and not play a silly waiting game for disease.
