Dieting – Why Fad Diets Fail

Fad diets are those diets that claim quick weight loss in only a few days with little to no effort but to stay with the diet plan. There are several of those being flooded into the market each and every month, continually well advertised sometimes well endorsed and fatally frustrating. All in all, fad diets are always starvation diets and as a result not realistic. It fails because of this.

Fad diets are foods that one needs to grin and bear. On top of that, someone on a fad diet is made to eat less and if the fad diet includes an exercise program, to work out even more. The only saving grace is that it is low on fat and ordinarily low on sodium but so is water. These, therefore, need arrangement. Each preparation however tastes unappealing bordering on unpalatability.

Fad diets may sometimes come together with an exercise program. Thought if one is to look carefully, initial weight loss happens with this method. A body that sweats losses water and water is heavy. When the dieter looks at their weight after the exercise, there is really a weight loss. But drink water and the body go back to the original weight. The water then that you lost while exercising will only be the same to the weight that was lost on perspiration. The impression though will be different.

The body then begins to slowly respond to the starvation diet losing water in the cells which then translate to weight loss. As you progress the starvation diet, the body will start eating at the muscle and as a result you start to lose weight. Because you are staying clear of eating of fat (which the body by the way also needs), the habit of the body is to conserve all the fat that is in store. It will go on for a time maybe 15 days depending on your metabolism. Now, when the body has burnt most of the energy in your muscle, you begins to feel weak. this is because that it is already beginning to use the fats that are stored in the body and which the body has tried much to save.

The irony is that, fats don’t burn the easily. Unlike other energy foods that the body has used burning to create the energy to stay alive, burning the fat will essentially take more time to give the energy needed and then the person on a fad diet starts being lazy in movement. Performance will be bad, activity will slow, and even the exercises will take much more effort that, after some time, is lost as well.

Obviously, the point in going on a diet is to become healthier, let alone fit. A fad diet works to the opposite. The weight loss effects are immediate; it always is for it has to be, but the desired effect and the ideals in which the dieter started with is not.
