BEEN THERE, DONE THAT!Being in business building and revenue for most of my career I realize the idea of cold recruiting. I’ve done my share of bumping gates and learning people. Probably the most costly part of starting off your job in life insurance sales is having a client base.Often a new sales recruit will appear at a seasoned and successful life insurance agencies and enviously review in their mind home, “I wish I had their client list.”WHERE DO I START?I have now been at the beginning of a sales approach where I scratch my head and say, “where do I start” trying to find leads. I have then gone out, tested out a thousand places to find out who was simply getting my service or product. All the while knowing that I am going to strike out with a high proportion of the people and organizations that I contact.COLD PROSPECTING Does not REQUIRE CASH UP FRONTThe reward to cold prospecting is that there is not any up top income needed. I have been able to set up companies with little or no cash by making the effort to complete cold prospecting. I leveraged my time and enthusiasm. Ergo I could see the interest cash limited – life insurance agents who are just starting up in their careers.Most times the people who have a great reputation and a large client base are those who’ve place in the painful hours working their prospects. As time has passed they’ve gotten better at observing people and developing person to person. But in the beginning they’ve had to do the up front work.I have unearthed that people who like to just take short cuts are those who are impatient and often leave because they don’t get quick sales results.In almost any sales, you will need to get the length to learn the skills required to stay static in business. Several times you learn useful lessons after several times have been failed by you at what you are doing.Bottom point, it requires time to learn the sales trade.THE QUESTION:Should you take all that time to learn to cold possibility or even to deal directly with life insurance leads??
