Probably the best way to increase in your drawing is to just continue doing it again and again. I know that this tip is old school, but it’s the only choice you have! If you don’t, you’ll stop growing as an artist, and your skill will remain stagnant. And I know that you don’t want to happen, in the first place, that’s why you are reading this right now. And the good news is, it doesn’t have to be.

One thing I do is to just always have a pencil on my hand, or even a pen when I have nothing to do, and just start doodling. It’s actually my stress reliever. I even sometimes draw during meetings, when I get bored, oops, but I don’t advice you do that as well. But my only point is that the more time you practice with your craft, the better you will be in it, that’s why just continue practicing your skills and you’ll even surprise yourself on how much you will improve doing this.

Another effective tip that you can do to improve your skills in drawing is to learn from the masters themselves or from other artists by watching and observing them on how they do it. This is a great way to learn firsthand the techniques that they use so you can apply it to your drawing. One favorite hobby of mine when we go to the mall is to watch professional artists in the portrait drawing boutiques while they are drawing their client’s portraits. It’s just so fun to watch them, and you can actually see their complete drawing kits and tools that you can get the idea how to use them yourself.

Another way you can actually do this at the comfort of your own home is through youtube! There are actually a lot of videos online showing artists while they are drawing portraits, that you can actually learn from them just by watching. This can really give you the idea on a variety of artist’s styles that you can apply or modify to your liking so you can improve on your own.

Invest on Books And Tutorials

And last but not least, and still probably one of the most effective ways in improving your drawing skills is by reading books about drawing. This can be a printed one or an ebook or an online material. Whatever it is, this can definitely boost your knowledge and skills in drawing even if you’re a complete beginner or not. By reading books from well known artists who have mastered their craft, you learn a share if not all of their secrets and techniques on how they draw. Not to mention they teach it to you with easy to follow step by step instructions, done by the artists themselves. It will definitely be worth for the price.

Whatever the case, there’s tons of ways you can improve on your drawing skills and the only question that is left is how passionate are you as an artist and how dedicated are you in improving your craft.
