Bacteria do not induce psoriasis. No virus or fungus breeds it. It is not a contagious disease. There is nothing but your body that decides if you will be afflicted with psoriasis or not. A gene is to blame for psoriasis. Those who possess that gene may contract psoriasis if it is activated.

Guttate Psoriasis – natural triggers

The ordinary causes of psoriasis are sunburn, nervous tension, skin injury, several medications, infections, smoking, drinking, and turnaround in weather. Any of these can set off psoriasis in a person who has the flawed gene. The gene makes skin act unusually. Conversely it is not necessarily so that each time the triggers will work. Sometimes they don’t while sometimes a little trigger flares up psoriasis. Speaking about the gene, not all brothers and sisters get guttate psoriasis. It can be inherited many times. As we concluded, for getting psoriasis you require a flawed gene and a trigger. Many healthy persons who show no indication of psoriasis intermittently get a little injury and the skin does not heal. After several days, the doctors find that the person has psoriasis, which is not letting the skin to heal. The strange demeanor of skin at particular places on the body is responsible for psoriasis. Skin misbehaves at the command of a gene. Let us see how skin acts differently in psoriasis.

Guttate Psoriasis – skin reaction in psoriasis

In our skin the foundation layer initiates new cells. These new cells take up to a month to journey to the top and the exhausted cells from the top are jettisoned. We can say that the skin renews itself every month. What skin cells you have today are not those you were born with. Old cells die and new cells are created. That way our entire body revitalizes itself. In guttate psoriasis skin, the pace at which skin brings up the new cells and sheds the old increases exponentially. The cells are shed every third or fourth day instead of a month. This creates the red patches, flakes and itching. The skin misbehaves at the instruction of a gene.
Every treatment moves towards providing relief to itching, removing the flakes and impeding the process of skin cells coming up.

The choice of psoriasis medications used for therapy depends on how intense the case of psoriasis is, and how the patient has responded to prior medications and medical care. Commonly, psoriasis medication begins with topical creams, ointments and salves, then evolves on to Ultraviolet (UV) light treatment. At times the UV light treatment is mixed with topical creams and ointments to enhance their effects too. With acute cases of psoriasis however, and those cases which haven’t responded to alternative treatments, injection drug medications are prescribed.

Now, psoriasis is a skin condition or disease which is not communicable. It’s entirely caused by an over reaction of the body’s own immune system, and frequently that reaction is brought about by triggers of some type. Frequent triggers include severe stress, trauma or injury, and severe illnesses such as strep throat.

When the body is subjected to a trigger, the immune system starts producing new skin cells quickly, and rushing them to the surface in just a few days time. Usually skin cells take thirty days or so to ascend to the surface though, and this gives the present surface skin time to die off and shed. Since psoriasis sufferers have fresh skin rising rapidly though, that skin expands in the form of thick skin plaques which can be red, itchy and flaky.

Seeing that psoriasis is considered uncurable, and in fact doctors are not entirely sure what causes the disease yet, treatment and medical care is focused on diminishing or controlling the symptoms of psoriasis. Not all psoriasis medications act the same for everyone however, so routinely multiple types of treatment are desired.

The first step in treating psoriasis is to use topical psoriasis medications. Topical medications are creams, salves and ointments which contain ingredients in them meant to lessen the psoriasis plaques, thin them out, and in some cases retard the skin growth response.

Certain non-prescription psoriasis medications have herbs in them, or they use natural and herbal ingredients which are known to help soften and heal skin problems. Examples can include aloe vera, oatmeal, and jojoba. Other psoriasis creams and ointments incorporate coal tar or retinoic acid. Prescription based creams often may possess Vitamin D derrivatives, and steriods which can help slow down the rate of skin growth.

When topical psoriasis medications don’t succeed individually, doctors often introduce UV light therapeutics as well. Sunlight can clear up moderate cases of psoriasis, because the sun helps destroy surface skin cells more quickly and this helps them be ejected faster. Doctors and dermatologists nevertheless, use a more targeted, focused form of light treatment to treat the psoriasis plaques themselves. Generally this is used in combination with the topical psoriasis medications.

When neither of those psoriasis treatments work though, doctors routinely use special immune supressing drugs which are introduced by IV in the hospital, or through injection with a needle. These psoriasis medicines are very effective and function to supress the body’s immune system, but they can have dangerous side effects too so they’re often only used for the most extreme cases of psoriasis.
