Children who continually wet the bed beyond that age cause their parents to be worried and concerned. However, according to clinical experts, bed wetting is not an illness in and of itself but a symptom of an inherent disease. It is not a behavioral or mental issue, either. </p>
<p>In medical terms, this ailment is called Nocturnal Enuresis . About 15% of youngsters wet the bed after reaching the age of three, and more boys than girls are subject to this ailment.</p>
<p>The exact causes of Nocturnal Enuresis are not fully known, though there are several factors that may account for some children&#8217;s impulse to urinate involuntarily. If you are distressed over your child&#8217;s wetting the bed, it helps to be familiar with and accept the likely causes of his or her ailment so that you know how to deal with it properly.</p>
<p>1. Stress. Yes, stressful situations can trigger many displeasing circumstances, one of which is your child&#8217;s bed wetting. <p>6. Urinary tract infection (UTI). If your child contracts UTI, it will be difficult for him to restrain the release of his urine. Apart from Nocturnal Enuresis , the other symptoms of UTI contain frequent urination, ache during urination, and incidents during daytime.</p>
<p>7. Constipation. Abnormal bowel movements cause urine to be kept in the body, ergo causing to wet nights for your child.</p>
<p>8. Diabetes. Your child may have type 1 diabetes if he wets the bed when he was normally dry at night. Monitor for other symptoms of diabetes such as weight loss, fatigue, release of large amounts of urine, and frequent thirst.</p>
<p>9. Sleep apnea. Nocturnal Enuresis  can be evidence of sleep apnea or disturbance of breathing when a child is asleep. This is on account of of swelling adenoids or tonsils. Besides nocturnal enuresis, other signs of sleep apnea contain sinus and ear infections, dizziness during the day, sore throat, and snoring.</p>
<p>10. Genetic factors. Nocturnal Enuresis tends to run in families. So if you were prone to wetting the bed during childhood, chances are high that your child will be susceptible as well to this condition.</p>
<p>In many cases, children outgrow bed wetting on their own. But if you consider that your child has a grave disease, it is best to consult a doctor.</p>
