One of the biggest factors in choosing between the two types of piano is the price factor. Traditional acoustic pianos cost a fortune and it is not within every individuals budget to buy them. In comparison the digital piano starts at a mere $100, and if you are not sure as to whether it is worth investing thousands of dollars into buying a piano, you are better advised to go for the digital equipment.

Another factor worth considering is the size of the piano. Acoustic pianos are huge and bulky. If you have a space crunch or if you think acoustic pianos are a little too wieldy, it is better to buy digital equipment. It weighs less than 100 pounds and you can carry it wherever you wish while it is not possible to move the acoustic piano once it has been installed. The digital equipment can be further dissembled and parts can be reassembled which makes it easier to take it to the place where you wish to give your performance.

The digital equipment does not need to be tuned whereas acoustic piano need tuning every 1-2 years. In digital equipment, you can record and edit your music after saving which is not possible in acoustic piano. Volume control is one feature that is not available in acoustic pianos. With digital equipment you can even use earphones and not disturb anyone while you are playing.

With so many advantages in its favor, it is prudent to go for a digital piano, especially if you are a beginner.
