If you are traveling overseas, it is best to register all of your travel as well as your contact details over the internet. Hotel stationery is a great souvenir, and hotels do not charge you for taking it. The hotels realize that their stationery is a form of advertisement for them, so if you take it and use it, you are doing them a favor. Most higher-end hotels have beautiful stationery, so snap it up! They don’t mind.

When you are traveling, do not throw out any of the brochures or visitor guides that you accumulate on your journey. When you get home, cut them up into words and phrases. Use the slips of paper in your scrapbook as a way to accent the pictures that you took on your vacation. They will help you remember details about your trip years later.

If you’re looking to traveling to a foreign country, try not to exchange your currency at the airport. Because it is often the easiest currency exchange to get to, the exchange rates are typically very high. Before you travel, look up nearby banks that do currency exchanges, as you will typically be able to find much better rates.

Be sure to acquire travel insurance prior to taking a big trip, especially if your vacation is in a foreign country or includes adventurous activities. It is better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your health. Travel insurance can cover you for any medical evaluations, issues or procedures necessary while you are traveling.

Having an emergency road kit can save your vacation. If you plan on traveling to your vacation destination by car, it is crucial to be prepared in case of emergency. At a minimum road kit should contain first-aid supplies, road flares, water, jumper cables and a flashlight. Having one on hand can make dealing with small problems a snap, and could potentially save your life in a serious accident.

If you’re worried about having your pockets picked while you’re on vacation, try sewing a small hidden pocket into the inside of your pants to keep your money and credit cards in. This way you won’t have to worry about them being swiped by an eager pickpocket. You can also do the same thing inside of a bag, if you’ll be carrying one.
