Where are you from? My parents used to do ours with moss and little crawfish and white lights, and most of our ornaments were little cajun ones. It worked great because it was almost all red and white on a green tree, which are the accepted christmas colors.

photocopy some old/vintage/funtimes family photos [or old christmas photos would be cute too] and make ornimates with them [cut cute shapes and glue card stock to the back of the photocopies] add lace to the sides or other decorations [beads...other things like that] and use a hole punch for the hole and use a ribbon for the string to hang it on the tree. it could be like a family theme. or anywhatever theme you want to do.

I like the look of the white trees (or green sprayed with the white snow in a can) with white lights, and silver and purple.

Personalized means it is about you or the person associated with the tree. What are you like, your likes, dislikes? Take a look at the things you love and then go for it with your tree. If its shoes, think of the many ways you could make it all about shoes. Custom paint some different shoe styles in clear glass balls. Make Garland out of some shoe laces, or fancy hosiery. If its horses, find all kinds of horse memorabilia to create your personal tree. What makes you smile? The memories of your childhood are great ways to create fun and interesting trees.

Find out what inspires you and go for it.

i wanted something different last year. i bought these small adirondack type artificial trees, i always chop down real ones, but wanted something different. i had my honey cut them to 3 different heights, ranging from 3′,3 1/2′ to 2 1/2′, i found an old st. nick, kind of looks like gandolf from lord of the rings. put the 3 trees in a semi circle, strung gold lights on them, stuck gandolf in the center…vwalla…cool..

My tree was teddy bears (in little sweaters) and red plaid bows. It turned out really cute with multicolor lights and ornament balls and red, gold, green beaded garland. The topper was a bigger teddy bear in a sweater.
