Fifty Shades of Grey – the return of BDSM in mainstream literature
With the launch of “Fifty Shades of Grey” lots of things have been revealed. In the last few years the word bondage is actually fast becoming a regular trend among partners worldwide. They are giving up the cute cuddles and kisses for the hardcore ropes and chains. The question is why? The major reason seems to be that they are attempting to get the spice and romance back into a relationship which has become too ordinary. The act of bondage really allows couples to be free of all inhibitions and not be afraid to try new things. Of course a lot of trust is required to get this done and for many that is what they love the most. There is no need to be traditional if you love and trust what is happening. Much more exhilarating!

Set in Seattle, the first book in the trilogy follows the progression of the relationship between the main characters and billionaire Christian Grey and college student Anastasia Steele.
If this book were ever to become a movie, which it no doubt will in the not so far future it would go up against the bondage movies such as “The Story of O” and “Black Snake Moan.” In “50 shades of Grey” the submissive Steele has to sign a contract prepared by Grey which gives him autonomous control over her. In addition to that she also had to sign a non disclosure agreement. When Grey finds out that she is a virgin, he has sex with her to prepare her for what is to come upon her signing of the contracts. As the plot develops she learns the way his mind works and how he views the use of bondage, domination and sadism. “The Secretary” a film from 2002 has a somewhat similar plot with the female character learning about BDSM from her male counterpart.
“Fifty Shades of Grey”finds Anastasia struggling with her inner thoughts of how she has to transition from not having sex to being a sex slave to this man who she is so intrigued with.
